Preliminary Trials For Moisturin Antitranspirant

Initial Tests and Trials: (Moisturin should be stirred or mixed in its container before diluting into water).

The following three concentrations are recommended for the initial tests on deciduous trees and shrubs, bare root stock, cut Christmas trees and hardwood and softwood cuttings.

5-10-20 parts Moisturin to 100 parts water (Mix thoroughly)

For the most accurate results, use as many plants as possible of the same species, size, and condition.

Test:

Apply Moisturin to ½ of the plants by dipping or as a spray to run off (plants in leaf, spray the underside of the leaf as thoroughly as possible). As a control do nothing to the other ½ of the plants or use a competing product. Watering all plants equally prior to the test is optional, but will give you more accurate results.

Discontinue watering and monitor the plant quality and appearance visually until results or benefits are apparent. If a small scale is available weigh the plants at the beginning of the test and periodically afterward. The Moisturin treated plants will hold the water weight much longer than the control plants. On bare root stock transpiration benefits may not be evident until the plants have been replanted and allowed to grow. Visual benefits would appear as earlier bud break, better die back rate and larger root ball size.

The above protocol is recommended for accuracy and fairness in initial tests. It will be of primary benefit to ascertain the most effective and economical dilution rates.

SPECIAL NOTE: For trials against insects and disease Moisturin should be sprayed on prior to the expected infestation. However Moisturin will still supply ongoing protection if the infestation is already established. Recommended starting dilution for insect and disease protection would be 7 parts Moisturin to 100 parts water.
